I have a graphic I wish to make into a transparent gif
But when I use save for web, the dimensions are the size of the artboard
Is there a way to trim the artboard to the dimensions of the graphic?
I know I can do something like that in photoshop with trim transparent pixels, but I do not know the equivalent in Illustrator
Perhaps I am just not searching with the proper terms.
Select all, double click on the Artboard Tool, in the Artboard Options pull down menu select Fit Artboard to Selected Art.
At least in older versions, you may use Crop Area/Marks.
As far as I remember, in the latest version(s) you may DoubleClick the Artboard (Tool(?)) and have the option.
I am still with 10.
Remember to make the cropping/artboard large enough to hold the outer half of strokes on paths, if any, or they will be snipped off.
Edit: Hi PrepressPro. My memory seems to be better than hopeless.
I have not gotten to that tool in my Classroom In a Book yet.
