Default ACR settings for NEF to mimick JPEG?

    mga56grg1 Level 1

When i shoot in NEF + JPEG (or shoot with either seperatly in the same setting), and open each in Adobe Camera Raw, the photos look completely different.  The JPEG is uniformely more color correct - frequently the NEF is downright poor until I correct it manually in ACR, which I'm not professional at doing and its time consuming anyway.   It seems as if ACR's default setting are incorrect on my machine.  I'm not sure if ACR knows what I'm shooting in, or if there is a way to customize to improve the default characteristics of the NEF import.  I have a Nikon D60.

Anyone with any ideas?  Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but I couldn't find it in my search.
