I am also experiencing the same problem. I have tried to uninstall Adobe Reader and reinstall, but I come up with the same exact error.
I have cleaned out all "Adobe" entries from the registry and tried to download and reinstall but come up with the same error again.
A fix would be nice...

Thank goodness someone else is having the same issue!!! I thought i might be doing something wrong!!!!!!!
Yes indeed a fix would be good cos I'm getting worried now that I won't be able to view my university course documents!!!!
Me too. Tried and tried. Uninstalled, tried to reinstall. And meanwhile I can't open all sorts of stuff. Where is the Adobe Helper?

Assuming that you want the English version for Windows, you can download it here http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.2/enu/AdbeRdr920_en_US.exe
For other versions drill down from this FTP site ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/
Thanks. I was able to download and install that version. It almost works: It
begins to open a pdf, the screen goes black, with an Adobe Reader panel in
the center with a question mark and an OK button. When I press the OK button
the panel and the screen go away and I am left with a blank white screen, no
image. I have tried this with two different locations.
Well it seems to be working for me!!! I'm so pleased...
I dont know what to suggest about why its not working for you though PG i'm not very techie minded at all!!
Thank you ever so much for your help its been driving me crazy...
I'm glad for you, and frustrated for me. Oh well. It'll get fixed somehow.
