use the Number function to convert all user input to numbers after stripping extraneous characters like commas.
I just tried the Number function for the first time:
_global.GraduatePlusVar = GraduatePlusText.text;
_global.GraduatePlusVar = Number(_global.GraduatePlusVar);
If I enter 4500 in the field, both traces show 4500
If I put 04500 in the field, the first trace lists 04500 the second trace shows 2368
No idea where that number came from.
In looking in some AS2 Dictionary type books, I have discovered that when a number has a "0" in front it is considered and "octal" and Flash converts it to something else.
So the correct conversion is:
This removes the 0! Woohoo!
