Adobe Reader 8 displays blank pages

    Cactus_Data

Why is this suddenly happening for some pdf files? Reader version is 8.1.7.

The pdf files can be displayed with Foxit Reader and GSView32.

Seems not to be a security issue:

      Security method: No security
Can be opened by: Any version of Acrobat.

The list below shows Not allowed for:

      Everything else is Allowed.

Problem seems to have vanished after a restart of the server.

PDFs were created by Ghostscript; perhaps a memory issue caused the files to be created less than optimal - just guessing.

It was not a memory issue.

This happens when you open a pdf with the Foxit Reader Version 2.3 Build 3201 or similar.
Then do a Save As operation which creates a new pdf-file.
This file Foxit can display correctly; however, when opened with Adobe Reader it is blank.

If you do a normal copy and paste of the original pdf, Adobe Reader will display it correctly.

So the conclusion is, that Foxit Reader changes the file slightly with Save As and enough to make it unreadable by Adobe Reader.
