i would like to make some kind of a "red band" above a 3d font...
i tried it but i does not look very well!here is my try http://i33.tinypic.com/2zrqe08.jpg
just drew the red band with the pencil which, i hope , isn´t the only way to do it! my 2nd idea was to draw both, band and font, first in 2d and then extrude them
but this also doesnt worked out pretty good!
i also would recommend it, if someone could tell me how it is possible to let the red band float through the font
made a very quick example here http://i37.tinypic.com/29z1ptz.jpg just to show how it is meant!
the only idea i would have is to cut the red line one the parts where it crosses the font...
would be great if someone could help me
I'm afraid illustrator is not the right software for this effect. Maybe try some real 3D software.
Just my thought.
You’ll need to expand the 3D text and the extruded ribbon. Illustrator’s 3D feature are, to be generous, crap. Each object exists as its own model and cannot be combined in three dimensions with another object.
i just discovered the 3d effect a few weeks ago and i liked it
nothing special but i think for some stuff it could be helpful
why is it crap?
