    Problem previewing in browsers

    labecs Level 1
Hi.. I was working with DW 8 and I upgraded to CS3, but since I did, I can't preview my pages in the browsers. It just takes me to "Problem loading Page". I cannot find what setting I have wrong to fix it. Can anyone help me? (I'm teaching myself to do this and I'm still at my beginning stages, so, be kind)
      Thank you in advance

What is the filename for the page you are trying to preview? Do you have a
          Testing server defined?

Yeah, I defined the preview browsers, if "defining" is going to 'preview in browsers' and naming the browsers I want to use, the primary being Firefox. But when I press F12, it'll take me to the problem page. It does the same with IE.
I know I'm missing something, cause I used to do it fine with DW8.

That's not the question I asked.

              * What is the filename of the file you are trying to preview?
              * Do you have a testing server defined? (hint - in your Site definition)

None of the files from my site can be seen in the preview. I even defined a new site, and I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but it doesn't work either. I am VERY new at this, I'm mostly teaching myself, so be as detailed as possible, please.

                  What does happen?
                  Does a browser window open?
If yes, what's the url showing?

guessing at a common mistake- Did you enter information into the "testing
site" part of the site definition, but aren't doing a dynamic site and don't
                  have a local server installed?

I do get a browser window. It loads forever and never gets to http://localhost/index.html. "page cannot be displayed"

The way I have my site set up is:
                    Server model: none
                    access: local/network
                    url prefix: http://localhost/

What do you mean dynamic? You got me with that part.
I used to be able to see the pages when I was building them with DW8.

Why did you put localhost there?
If this is the Local Site information, what goes on the http address line is
                      the remote site's url.

If that is the Testing Server information, set access to NONE.
You don't need a testing server.

a dynamic site is one that uses server side scripting like asp or php.
for that, you install a local web server like Apache, and fill out the
                        testing server info.

then when you do an f12, the page is served from your local server.

You don't need that, your pages will preview from the hard drive.

One other setting- If you are using any site root relative paths, go into dw
preferences->Preview in Browser and checkmark "preview with temp files".
