Is it possible to make a page half positioned and half flowed?

I am currently working on editing a page of a form which has expandable text boxes at the top of it with "empty" space on the second half (though this is because I removed what was there).  Now I would like to put a series of check boxes within this empty space but any time that I insert something there it jumps to another part of the document entirely.  I am wondering if this is because I need to have half of the page positioned and half flowed (to allow me to edit the bottom half of the page).  Is that the case?  Can anyone help me troubleshoot this?

Make sure that you have the object boundaries showing (in the drawing Aids palette. This will highlight the object boundaries when selected. Now  click on the blank space and see what object is taking that space. I bet it is one of your subforms that needs to be resized.
