Sorry, Tulegit. The Xacti is another of those portable video format camcorders whose unique codecs Premiere Elements will probably have trouble working with.
Actually, the Xacti files work fine in PE. I've been using PE 3.0 and editing files from the Xacti HD1A for a few years now. I just upgraded to the Xacti HD2000 which has 1080P. I'm just wondering if PE 8.0 has settings for 1080p in general....not just for the Xacti. I don't see it anywhere in the project settings.
No. It does not.
It sounds as though you've taken video from your camcorder into the program and burned at least one DVD that looks good. That's a good idea, before you go all-out committing to Premiere Elements for this type of camcorder. Some people put hours into a project only to find, when they finally do output a disc, the results are full of problems or don't process at all.
A good test drive is always a good idea.
So if PE can't do 1080p, how is eveyone editing their 1080p videos?

As you can see, if you do Google search on editing Xacti video, most people are finding it necessary to convert the video to a more standard format.
But, again, that may or may not be necessary. As we always say, your mileage may vary. So, if you've done beginning-to-end test drive of your footage and it's producing the quality of video you're looking for (with no annoying jiggles or reduced pixelation), don't worry about it. You're golden.
Thanks. I've never had to convert my files. I guess I have to go from 1080p to 1080i till something better comes along.
