1. Re: Help! Encore CS3 Rollover text out of line
Bill Hunt Nov 10, 2009 11:46 AM (in response to bootsuk)This most often happens where the PAR of the Menu is different than the Project. Can you post details on your Project and the full details on the .PSD files you are using? A screen-cap of the resulting misalignment might be useful too.
Good luck,
Hunt

bootsuk Nov 10, 2009 11:49 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)Not sure what you mean by PAR ?

3. Re: Help! Encore CS3 Rollover text out of line
Bill Hunt Nov 10, 2009 11:55 AM (in response to bootsuk)Sorry, PAR = Pixel Aspect Ratio. This is different depending on whether one is NTSC, or PAL, and Widescreen (16:9), or Standard (4:3).
You can see the PAR in several places, but probably the easiest is in Photoshop under Image>Pixel Aspect Ratio. The PAR of your Menus needs to match the PAR of your Project, i.e. NTSC Widescreen (16:9) w/ a PAR of 1.2. [Note: the exact PAR dimensions was changed in CS4 to more correctly reflect the actual Pixel Aspect Ratio.]
Good luck,
Hunt

4. Re: Help! Encore CS3 Rollover text out of line
Bill Hunt Nov 10, 2009 11:58 AM (in response to bootsuk)Also, when you have the Menu open in Photoshop, twirl-down (to display) all of the Button Layer Sets. For a test, make the Sub-picture Highlight Layer visible and check the alignment of them there too. Turn OFF visibility, before you do any Save, or they will be ON, when you Burn to your DVD. You want them OFF, so that the DVD player (hardware, or software) can turn them on, when one navigates to the Buttons.
Good luck,
Hunt

Probably not very clear.

6. Re: Help! Encore CS3 Rollover text out of line
Bill Hunt Nov 10, 2009 12:05 PM (in response to bootsuk)Looks like the attachment did not work.
Hints: Save your .PSD as a high-rez JPEG (why Adobe fora do not accept Adobe's .PSD is a mystery to me), and use the little "camera" icon in the lower-middle of the forum editing screen's Toolbar.
Also, a screen-cap from Photoshop with the Button Layer Sets open and at least one of the Sub-picture Highlight Layers "visible" would be useful.
Good luck,
Hunt

bootsuk Nov 10, 2009 12:07 PM (in response to bootsuk)This system will not let me upload a picture or file.
I'm working in PAL 16.9 and did set the background image to 1025x576. (in Photoshop)
Used a new text layer for the text then exported to Encore, converted text to button. That did not work so used some text from within Encore and the am thing happened.

8. Re: Help! Encore CS3 Rollover text out of line
Bill Hunt Nov 10, 2009 12:14 PM (in response to bootsuk)What is the PAR (Pixel Aspect Ratio) of that Menu?
How did you create the Sub-picture Highlight for your text Button?
This system will not let me upload a picture or file.
Odd. It must be something on your end, as I just attached that JPEG of the editing screen's Toolbar above.
Also, when you turned ON visibility for the Sub-picture Highlight Layer within the Button Layer Set, did they Highlight match up, or was it offset? If it was offset there, just use the Move Tool to align it with your text. I'd check all of the Sub-picture Highlights, and Select all of them, if they are offset, then use the Move Tool and the arrow cursors to align them all.
Good luck,
Hunt

10. Re: Help! Encore CS3 Rollover text out of line
Bill Hunt Nov 10, 2009 12:24 PM (in response to bootsuk)Thanks for the image. That looks like just an alignment issue with the Sub-picture Highlight Layer. When you turn its visibility ON in Photoshop's Layers Palette, do you see the same misalignment? If so, you can nudge that Layer to the right with the Move Tool and the arrow cursors.
Good luck,
Hunt

11. Re: Help! Encore CS3 Rollover text out of line
Bill Hunt Nov 10, 2009 12:26 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)Additional note, if you need to say increase the size of the Sub-picture Highlight, in PS you can make that the active Layer, hit Ctrl+T (Free Transform) and resize, plus move it. Note that you will want to hold down Shift to constrain the proportions, when you change things with Free Transform.
Good luck,
Hunt
