1. Re: TechComm2: 9004 error for FM and 'stopped working' error for RH8
Art_Campbell Nov 10, 2009 1:22 PM (in response to synnott)It's not clear from your post if you had the stand-alone demo versions of FM and RH running still have them running, or if they were on the system and over-wrote them with TCS2 versions, or if you had the demo of TCS2 running and just licensed and upgraded that....

synnott Nov 10, 2009 1:26 PM (in response to Art_Campbell)I licensed the demo versions (I'm still downloading TCS2 - 57% at this moment). The TCS2 demos were running beside TCS1, which I can't use for this project as the Frame and RH documents are in TCS2 format. I uninstalled TCS1 as part of this troubleshooting effort.

Sheila Carlisle Nov 10, 2009 7:51 PM (in response to synnott)This is a bit of a long shot, but there was a forum posting just recently that revolved around an issue with dictionaries, and I'm wondering if it's something related to the error message you quoted "error at the Localization phase".
I'll try to dig up the reference to the posting.
edit: sorry, I can't find the posting, maybe somebody else will remember what it was.
Is your system using US English? had you done anything in Windows that might have changed the language settings in Windows?

synnott Nov 11, 2009 4:42 AM (in response to Sheila Carlisle)Thanks for your interest in this problem. Here's more information. I logged on under my local admin account and was able to run both Frame and RH, which narrows the cause to my local Windows profile. I replaced the relevant AppData folders in my profile with those I found in the admin profile but no luck.

5. Re: TechComm2: 9004 error for FM and 'stopped working' error for RH8
synnott Nov 11, 2009 9:23 AM (in response to synnott)The fatal 9004 error for FM and the fatal error for RH were resolved by renaming the the C:\Users\'account name'\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Linguistics folder and allowing FM and RH to recreate their dictionaries.

Pieter van de Sande Dec 23, 2009 1:20 AM (in response to synnott)I experienced the same error on several occasions and am still having trouble with it. Could you be more specific on how exactly you renamed the directory and allowed framemaker to create dictionaries?
Thank you

synnott Dec 23, 2009 11:09 AM (in response to Pieter van de Sande)Pieter,
Simply navigate to c:\users\your name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe and rename the 'Linguistics' folder (Framemaker should NOT be running - otherwise, the folder will be write locked and unable to be modified). As a precaution against doing more damage to my installation I renamed the 'Linguistics' folder instead of deleting the folder (for example, Linguistics.bak). When Framemaker opened it automatically recreated the 'Linguistics' folder as well as the dictionaries, at which point I deleted 'Linguistics.bak'. Since then I have had no problems. By the way, I am running Windows 7; if you are running a pre-Vista version of the OS you will find your 'user' folder under c:\documents & settings. Good Luck.

8. Re: TechComm2: 9004 error for FM and 'stopped working' error for RH8
Pieter van de Sande Dec 24, 2009 12:54 AM (in response to synnott)I have found the folder called linguistics and renamed it to linguistics_old. Upon start-up Framemaker prompts the message that dictionaries are missing or corrupted. When I click ok, the program simply closes and no folder has been created or recreated. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Pieter

Desh7 May 27, 2011 2:22 PM (in response to Pieter van de Sande)I also renamed my Linguistics folder in an attempt to fix my 9004, 6919244, 9675656, 0 error and received an additional error message that the dictionaries are missing/corrupted. Has anyone found a solution to this?
