I wonder what software development teams are represented by the cut...

I am hoping that the cuts will come from India, where it seems that T/S and C/S has been outsourced to. Adobe has made a pledge to bring those two funcitons back to the US, but I wonder.

Considering that Adobe is about #2, behind MS, but ahead of Apple, I worry about this as a trend, that will affect development and maybe even product lines. Having been an Adobe user for several decades, this does not bode well.

          I am worried...

Hunt, don't panic just yet, it's just a sign of the times.

We see it all the time, there is absolutely no loyalty left with American corporations, especially the larger ones.

Everything revolves around the bottom line and shareholder equity.

It has nothing to do with retaining a seasoned, well educated workforce, but how do we cut costs to the bare minimum, and let those affected fend for themselves.

I'm not singling out Adobe with this rant, as this is the mentality of American capitalism.

Many would say that the alternative to this (socialism or communism) would be worst.

Tell that to the poor individual who just got axed...

Oh, I understand Capitalism well. My poor wife has to juggle the quality of healthcare vs the "bottom-line" every day. Still, she gets her hosptials into the "Top 100 Best," in many respects, including three of her three into the "Top 100 Best Places to Work in the US." Sometimes, the tightrope gets "twanged," but she still finds a way to get the job done and end up with the best, of the best.

Now, when healthcare in the US goes to the government, all bets are off, and the game plan will change drastically. But, I will not go into that, as poor Steve would have to remove my comments, and for good reasons.

although i would never seriously wish this on anyone, maybe it's the entire PRE8 development team.  I can write code more stable than that thing.  Anyway, best of luck to who ever they are.
