First off I just want to say that I'm an undergrad university student working on my first flash project. Without giving out too many details, I'm making a simple game and would like to "import" the user's entire My Pictures folder (or just be able to select multiple pictures) to be used in the game (if the user wants, otherwise use default pics). I see plenty of resources out there on how to open a single picture for use (see http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/quickstart/filereference_class_as3/ ) but I'm looking for how to use an entire folder without a user having to individually click on each photo. Anyone able to provide guidance as to how to do this? Thanks in advance!
Yes, you can import multiple files rather than one at a time. The FIleReferenceList has a fileList property that you can use to hold all of the files that have been selected. Here's a file that may help to explain how to use this property: http://www.ddg-designs.com/downloads/uploadMeMultiple.zip
