The font is interacting with transparency. Move all the text to the top layer to lessen the interaction.
Thanks, but there was not any transparency in the design and it had only one layer. But, through process of elimination and trial an error I found what was wrong.
I had white text over a black rectangle. I had put a white stroke on the white text to beef it up a bit. Once I took the stroke off all was well when it went to PDF. Maybe it had something to do with an overprint, knock out setting. Not really familiar with that. But there has to be a way to add a stroke to text that is white over black (reversed) and not have it get bitmaped when going to PDF.
