This isn't an Adobe support forum, it's just user-to-user and this error has been a problem. (I'm still on CS3, so I haven't had to deal with it myself.)
What operating system are you using? Do you have any other Adobe apps and do they work okay?
Have you tried the Customer Support Portal? Link off this page: http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/contact.html
What other Adobe products are you using from CS4 suite?
Did you try deleting the preferences and then launching Fireworks again?
So nice of you to respond to my dilemma.
If I had CS3 I would return to it. I was using MX; a very old system.
I have XP. I installed the Web Premium CS4 suite and everything else (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) seems to be working just fine.
I did finally send a message to the customer support portal yesterday. I was trying to get Sarthak in the Fireworks forum to help me, but no response after more than a week.
I do appreciate your response very much. I'm not a wiz at technology and try to do the best I can to take care of my agencies website.
I installed Adobe Web Premium a few months ago. It has Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.
How do I delete preferences?
The preferences can be found in XP at:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Fireworks CS4\
Quit Fireworks, Just rename the "Fireworks CS4" folder and then try launching it again. Let us know if the folder with all the data gets re-created automatically?
Any specific reasons why you were hunting for me (Sarthak)?
I renamed the preferences folder as you suggested. It works perfectly now. I can't believe it was that easy after all I've gone through. Thank you sincerely.

I want to thank you for this work-around. I too had this problem which I have been struggling with for over two weeks. Just following your directions cleaned up the problem. As an aside to this, I put in an ancident over 12 days ago and have had no response from the tech support section; not very good support I would say.
renaming the fireworks folder worked for me! cheers!
