          Robert,

Welcome to the forum. Please tell us more about these .AVI files. AVI is but a "wrapper," and many different CODEC's can be enclosed. This ARTICLE will give you background, plus tell you how to find out more about those files. That info will direct you in the choice of your Project/Sequence Presets - they should match 100%.

          Good luck,

          Hunt

              You have three options:

              1. Download the Morgan MJPEG codec

              2. Download the MainConcept MJPEG codec

              3. Convert to DV AVI type2. Use Google to find a converter.

                There is a fourth option.

Stop using 'video' from still cameras and other non-standard devices and only use DV, DVCAM, DVCPRO, DVCPRO 50, DVCPRO HD, AVC-I or R3D media.

The selection of the Preset will depend on exactly what G-Spot tells you about your source footage. Things like Frame Size, Frame Rate, etc.

As for MJPEG, I agree with Harm's suggestion to install either the Morgan, or the MainConcept MJPEG CODEC's. For most users, either works perfectly. The choice is yours.

I wonder which MJPEG CODEC you have installed? G-Spot has Tables, where you can see installed Video CODEC's. Be aware that it will show false positives for the Adobe MainConcept installed CODEC's being broken. This is due to Adobe's naming convention for its installed CODEC's, to keep others from overwriting, or breaking them, but it fools G-Spot and Sherlock the CODEC Detective.

                  Good luck,
