Is there a way to parent a layer while allowing it to record its change in position//rotation//other values?

      Hi,

This may be difficult for me to explain, possibly the reason why I can't find a solution in the forums:

Quesiton: Is there a way to parent a layer while allowing it to record its change in position//rotation//other values?

Context: A beam effect with the ending point position pig-whipped to the position value of a static layer that is parented to a rotating Null. I have attached an image illustrating this problem.

Problem: The ending point of the beam needs to follow the position of the static layer. Although, the beam does not follow the layer when pig-whipped since the position value does not change.

In this case, tedious key framing would not serve well in my workflow.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and time. Please let me know if I can provide more information.

      Cheers,
