What are you doing when it happens? Logging in, Opening a particular file? Opening Acrobat?
What OS and version of Reader would be helpful as well.
Also, are you SURE it's trying to open EVERY pdf file or just a lot of them?
Just opening any PDF on my computer. I am not sure if it is trying to open up all of them but it appears to be trying to do so until the warning
"There was an error opening this document. The maximum number of files are already open. No other files can be opened or printed until some are closed." comes up.
10.6.2 Is the operating version
Adobe 8 Professional
Thanks so much.
We have the same issue on a computer running OS 10.6.1, and Acrobat Pro 9.2.0. It occurs randomly, and I can't duplicate it, so I'm having trouble tracking down the cause. At first I thought it was trying to open all files in the same folder as the one thats double clicked, or all recent PDF's, but it does seem to try and open every PDF on that particular computer. If you have a lot of memory, it opens a lot of files. The only way out, I've found, is to wait for memory to fill up. You'll receive the maximum number of files error, click OK, then you can close all the open windows or quit out of acrobat.
Were you able to fix the error you mention? My Mac installed new Adobe updates today and it seems, as a result, that I now have the same issue where whenever I try to open any Adobe document on my computer, it tries to open ALL of my adobe documents. I am unable to access these documents as the error message will not allow me to say "OK" or to manually close each individually. The only way to get beyond the error is to do "force quit" for Adobe. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem so that I can access my Adobe files?
Thank you in advance!
Please help! Does anyone know how to fix this? I have Acrobat 8 Pro and 9 Pro on this
iMac. The verison 9 is having this issue. 8 works fine. I had no issues with either version until about two weeks ago.
Thanks in advance!
If you create a new user, does the same thing happen on that account?
I will try it and see what happens. Did not think of that. Thanks for the response and I'll reply with the results.
