linking to a PDF - problem

    Level 7
My first attempt to link to a PDF. Not working. Followed the directions
on DW support page. This PDF was not created by me. Sent by the
magazine. Is that the problem? The PDF has been uploaded to the server
      and is in the files.

Do you want the end-user to be able to download the pdf file to their
desktop? If so you need to zip the pdf and upload the zip file to the
          server and link to it.

Do I need to zip it in any case? Is that why the link is not working?

It should work without being zipped but why not try and zip it and see
              what happens.

Try linking to another pdf and see if that works to eliminate the
possibility that the pdf is corrupt in some way.

Sorry. I goofed! forgot to give you the URL of the page with the
                problem: http://seascapesartgallery.com/artist.htm

I don't see a link to any pdf on that page. Can you explain your problem in more detail?

The pdf file is not where the links says it is?

                    http://seascapesartgallery.com/kersteinarticleweb.pdf

According to the link above it should be directly within the site root
                    folder...so where is it?

Also, there is no reason at all for you to be using absolute positioning on that page. See what happens when the visitor has their text sized differently?

It is in the root file. I uploaded it with the page.

Have you verified that by viewing the remote files?

A silly question maybe, but are you sure the name of the PDF and the link are the same?

When I click that link, I get a file not found error

About name... do you maybe have Kersteinarticleweb.pdf as the actual name?

Or, any other capital/lower case letter differences? Any old use of letters will work on your computer (well... Windoze, I don't know about a Linux box) but you must have ExAcTlY correct upper and lower case letters in a link and file name

You link a pdf the same way you link any other document to a web site. The page you listed has no links to pdf file
What is the page / URL of the page that is trying to link to a pdf and what is the text on that page that has the link applied to it?
