    Duplicate messages in email reader

    SimonWarner Community Member

I read the forums in Thunderbird and last week I began getting lots of duplicate messages. Not all but most messages are appearing twice in my email reader but I've not seen anyone else report this. Is it because I'm the only one using Thunderbird?

You are not the only one using Thunderbird.

Please provide some samples of the duplicate messages. Make sure all the

headers are present. For instructions on extracting the full headers

Here you go. As you can see the headers are different

I doubt Jive is going to be able to find that Message-ID in their logs.

If their mail servers log Message-IDs at all, which is why we need all

the Received headers and the To as well.

I've no idea if this is helpful, but I also got the Indesign notifications about overprinting bitmaps that Simon referred to. The two messages from thread 525729 were

                Message: 2399330

                Message-ID: 1898237673.1771258465175140.JavaMail.jive@sgaurwa43p

                and

                Message: 2399343

                Message-ID: 892121707.16681258465177587.JavaMail.jive@sgaurwa41p

It could be that Simon's message database needs re-indexing or something, because TB is delivering the wrong content for display if those two are showing up as identical. The first was from Petteri and the second from Arïel.

Yours I can explain, because you are subscribed. But I can not find a

single subscription with an email address I can track back to Simon.

                    Hi,

I deleted tons of emails and reindexed. Reindexing didn't fix this. And those are all the headers I have. I just now got this as a duplicate.

This is the entire text in the email. There are no more headers or content. And both emails are the same

As it seems to be only myself I am assuming my problem is with Thunderbird and not the forums.

If ever I find an answer I shall post, but in the meantime happy forum reading to you all.

Don't rule out your mailserver, especially if you work with server side

spam filters and scripts to filter out your email to different folders.

But yes, I very much doubt this is a forum problem. If it were, your

messages would at the very least have some Received lines like:

                        Received: from sgaurwa41p (unknown 10.137.24.42)
