I would disable the auto startup for Bridge – it only causes problems.
And next time you start Bridge, hold down the Ctrl key as you click the icon and keep it down until you get a dialog . Select all options and see if things are better.

TerryLn22 Nov 24, 2009 6:36 PM (in response to John Joslin)To purge the cache, I went into Tools, Cache, Purge the cache. Yet the problem persists. I still get the warning message each time I ....start the computer. I don't even need to start Photoshop.
I held down the control key as you suggested, but no dialogue box comes up.

Curt Y Nov 24, 2009 7:03 PM (in response to TerryLn22)If you purge cache by going to Tools all you do is purge the cache for the folder that is active.
To purge the entire cache go to edit/preferences/cache. You can purge it there.
You have to hold down the ctrl key while clicking on the desktop start icon for Bridge. Make sure it is not already running in the background. Open the Task Manager and check for Bridge.exe in the Processes tab.

D Fosse-QDEaQ1 Nov 24, 2009 10:13 PM (in response to Curt Y)Right. If it's set to autostart it's already running when you hold the ctrl key to reset the preferences, so it won't work.
You can turn off the autostart in Bridge preferences > advanced. I agree the autostart function is not a good idea.
