2. Re: How do you create bullets in InDesign CS4 where the bullet is a different color than the text.
Eugene Tyson Nov 25, 2009 9:17 AM (in response to [Jongware])Dear Peter Spier
Please add this to the announcements or some sort of FAQ thread
Thank you
Eugene
You need to create a character style for the bullet.
Then when you add the bullet via the paragraph style options, set the character style for the bullet.
Change the colour of the bullet via the Character Style you created.
(it would be handier if Adobe had made the create character style in the bullet options but they didn't)

Skempy Nov 25, 2009 10:29 AM (in response to Eugene Tyson)Eugene,
I think Adobe did put a create new character style facility in the Bullets and Numbering dialogue.

BobLevine Nov 25, 2009 10:31 AM (in response to Eugene Tyson)Anywhere you can use a style you can create a new one in CS4.

Aw, c'mon. This only gets asked once a month, not three times a day. If I add them all, there won't be anything left to see on the new topics listings.

How about adding a line to the bottom of every message like "See the frequently-asked questions at the top of this forum?"

7. Re: How do you create bullets in InDesign CS4 where the bullet is a different color than the text.
P Spier Nov 25, 2009 12:34 PM (in response to peter at knowhowpro)For the record, there isn't an offical FAQ for the ID forum, yet, and Bob and I are still working on how to get it set up. So far announcemts see to be what we have to work with (maybe an announcement with a link to a FAQ sub-forum) but people don't seem to pay much attention to either anouncements or FAQs. I have seen another forum (comments, I think) with a stickies section, but I think that may have been added by Jochem van Dieten who has skills in dissecting the forum software that go far beyond what I know how to do.
That said, if any of you want to write up some FAQ topics, I think we's be really delighted to post them the way I did the announcement for Trashing Prefs and .inx. If nothing else, at lease it's a handy place to store links to common answers.

8. Re: How do you create bullets in InDesign CS4 where the bullet is a different color than the text.
peter at knowhowpro Nov 25, 2009 12:48 PM (in response to P Spier)First of all, thanks, Peter and Bob, for fielding all the stuff that passes through this forum.
A pro-active FAQ is "How did you phrase your Google search for this problem?" Or, "What results have you gotten from a Google search?" Or, "Did you find anything helpful in your Google search results?" It's always interesting to see what a Google search finds.
HTH
Regards,
Peter

[Jongware] Nov 25, 2009 1:01 PM (in response to peter at knowhowpro)Google Was Indeed My Friend -- that's how I got that list of links. Simply used "indesign color bullet site:forums.adobe.com", and there they were.
Admittedly, I knew it was a frequently asked question here, and the OP may not have known that.

Eugene Tyson Nov 26, 2009 1:14 AM (in response to BobLevine)Thanks for the info Bob, that is interesting. I barely open CS4 as I've to stay on CS3 with clients. I've not even gotten a chance to do a project in CS4

P Spier Nov 26, 2009 5:08 AM (in response to Eugene Tyson)CS4 has a lot of advantages over CS3. It kills me to go back.
Here's hoping you get a chance to use it before CS5 comes out.

BobLevine Nov 26, 2009 5:39 AM (in response to Eugene Tyson)There's a lot of nice new goodies in CS4.
