Why are PDF files corrupt when opened with Reader 9.2?

My trial with Acrobat Pro was recently over, when I had Acrobat Pro pdf files opened flawlessly.

Now with Reader 9.2 when I open a pdf file with color or longer than a couple of pages (even in with black copy) the file is corrupted.

      When I open the file.

      1) Screen goes blank (black) and then desktop icons change colors

      2) File opens and the longer the file and more color it has the more corruption viewed. Colors are changed and copy is shaded in black or various colors, Using the mouse scroll command changed the colors.

      3) OS is window XP, browser is Mozilla. I did have some problem with browser downloading Reader but was able to get around download block on foxfire.
