You will probably need to use the shift key in conjunction with the eyedropper to sample the screen color at that point.
That doesn't seem to work. This only started happening recently, and only in this one document I'm working in. If I start a new document, the problem does not occur.

That would suggest this is document specific and I would create a new blank document and either Copy and Paste or place the old document in the new one save it with a new name and close and then close it and reopen it and then see if the problem has been wiped out.
Now it that odes not work then you can try this and this is going to sound like witchcraft but it is not.
Try the above three times that is copy and paste save and close, then reopen copy and paste in yet another new document and then repeat that one more time the same for the place method if that does not work or yuo do not feel you want to try it that is the best I know.
I just copied all my layers into a new document and the problem was fixed. I'm just wondering though if there was an easier fix, perhaps if I accidently hit a keyboard command to change it.
