shooternz Dec 13, 2009 8:27 PM (in response to robodog1)What do you mean by "effects panel"?
Can you do a screen grab to show us what you mean?

shooternz Dec 13, 2009 11:35 PM (in response to robodog1)Those are a permanent part of every clip .
Why would you need to get rid of them?
They have no effect until you alter them with a key frame.

the_wine_snob Dec 14, 2009 10:11 AM (in response to robodog1)1 person found this helpfulThere are several "fixed" Effects, that will automatically appear on all Clips: Opacity, Motion and Volume (where you have muxed Audio, or linked Audio). As stated, those cannot be removed. For ones that you do add, you can Rt-click and choose Clear, or you can toggle OFF/ON those other Effects.
The area that you're looking is the Effects Control Panel. You can also adjust those fixed Effects in the Timeline (can toggle between Opacity and Motion), but I find doing the work there clunky, even with the display zoomed in. I find the Effects Control Panel to be far, far better.
Good luck,
Hunt

For future reference, you'll often see those particular effects referred to as "fixed effects", and they're part of each and every clip used in a timeline. Now, obviously, an image file won't have the "Volume" effect, and an audio clip won't have the "Motion", etc. effects, but those four are always "default" effects.
