          I would doubt it.

If you need to save a .pdf, and price is a factor, you might try Primo PDF. It works nicely on simple documents.

No it cannot. As Heathrowe mentions, this feature is available in the
new Fireworks Public Beta found at labs.adobe.com

Actually, if you are on a Mac you can use the print menu to generate a PDF of the document.

Good point. I totally forgot about that. lol Actually if you own
Acrobat Pro, you can even get security options. It's just not native to
FW in earlier versions. The PDF export option in the beta gives you
security options as well, and the ability to create interactive
multipage PDF files, which is kinda nice.

I'm not sure how much we truly gained by making it native in CS4 though.

Jim, I'm not totally sure about this, but I got the impression from your DevCenter article that there is no out-of-the-box option to enable comments in the Fireworks-generated PDF - one needs to purchase Acrobat Pro or some other PDF-editing software. And then, if we already have those apps anyway, all the CS4 PDF functions can be recreated with much more flexibility.

If this is true, then it seems to me that making simplified PDFs with Fireworks serves only convenience, at the price of reduced functionality - much like generating HTML with Fireworks does.

Apparently there is if you have the latest Acrobat Reader. But I'll
double check and see. My article was written before Acrobat 9 came out
and no one bothered to tell me that the comment feature was changing.
And believe me, I asked A LOT lol.

The FW pdf offers interactivity. A big plus if you have a multi page png
mock up. It's another way to offer deliverables to a client and it
gets around FW's lousy printing capabilities.

HTML from FW (as we used to know it) was only good for generating a
clickthru - which does have advantages. With the beta, we've actually
got some fledgling CSS and html support. Perfect? No. But easy enough to
                        tweak it in DW.
