I used to be a Director developer, but due to a job change got away from Director in 2002. Now I'm thinking about getting back into it again.
What has changed with Director and Lingo in the last 8 years? If I dust off my memory banks, will I have a fairly easy time coming back up to speed, or is Director a completely different beast than it was in 2002?
Or should I just learn Flash and forget about Director altogether?
I've been using Director constantly for around 15 years. Prophesies of doom have been a recurrent feature in the last 5+ years, but its finally looking like they might be true. You would probably be better served by learning a different application, and Flash may be a good place to start - depending on your needs.
Other than Flash, what other options are there for multimedia development (CD-delivered projector, or web-delivered content)? Can the current version of Flash still produce a projector executable (.exe)?
This is something that's often discussed. Unfortunately, there is nothing else as versatile as Director out there.
