joebuilderit Dec 18, 2009 8:25 AM (in response to DavidSalahi)I ran into that same issue, I'm sure Adobe has to be on it. I hope so at least.

Chris Cox Dec 22, 2009 7:38 PM (in response to DavidSalahi)There is no TWAIN plugin for 64 bit.
Back when we were writing the 64 bit Photoshop, the TWAIN group said that there would never be a 64 bit TWAIN.
(then they changed their mind, but failed to tell anyone involved...)

lagopus Jan 23, 2010 5:07 AM (in response to Chris Cox)Dude. I'm surprised by this as well, and would definitely welcome a patch that fixes this. Interesting to hear that the problem was at TWAIN's end. But if they really are making it in 64bit these days, here's hoping there will be a solution soon.

4. Re: TWAIN Module Need for Photoshop Win 64
Chris Cox Jan 25, 2010 1:09 PM (in response to lagopus)Not likely. TWAIN drivers continue to cause a large number of problems and crashes, even after we moved the plugin to an optional install.
You're far better off scanning in a stand alone application and not taking down Photoshop all the time.

lagopus Jan 25, 2010 4:12 PM (in response to DavidSalahi)I'm very disappointed to hear that. FWIW, it's harder on my system to be running two programs at a time for image processing, not to mention clumsy and time-consuming (as if scanning wasn't time-consuming already). Would much prefer to do it all in Photoshop. Shame about TWAIN being so rubbish.

6. Re: TWAIN Module Need for Photoshop Win 64
DavidSalahi Jan 25, 2010 4:25 PM (in response to lagopus)Yes, I agree. the workflow is inconvenient if I have to scan and save to TIFF first and then open in Photoshop. And then there's an extra file (the TIF) that needs to be deleted for every scan. Another thing, does the TIFF format even support all the color & bit depth options that scanners offer?

Chris Cox Jan 27, 2010 7:10 PM (in response to DavidSalahi)TIFF supports more options than scanners can support. No problem there.
And scanning in another app is still preferable to losing your work in Photoshop because the scanner driver crashed.
