Is there a bug in the HTTP request : <s:request>. ? I've worked and reworked ex 4.5, 4 times then tried the solution code and the request to the xml will not filter by location.
I'm using a local xml file so the only change I made to the file was pointing to the xml file on my pc, in the exercise I coded
I always get back the full xml file.
I tried doing a final build on the solution to test it on a pc with a net connection but get an http security error. and when the only change I made in the solution code is to to point to a local xml file - it works but again will not filter on location
Is this a beta bug or an issue on my pcs?
I went through this exercise and didnt have any problems, but I did notice the url value listed in the code snippets for the HTTP service object is different between the exercise and the student files. The exercise calls the employees.xml file while the student files call the employeeData.cfm file. If you are using an XML file for the data, it wont have the same functionality of a ColdFusion document, which is probably why it wont sort when you click the button.
As far as the security error, I have had that problem too. You have to go to the Flash Player security settings page and enable local files to be accessed by Flash Player. This link should take you there ( http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.htm l ).
OK, that makes sense.. the ColdFusion is processing the select by the city .. flex is just sending the parameter to select by. I got the mistaken impression that flex was doing that work from the text. It would be nice if the code for the ColdFusion was included in the exercise..since I don't do dev work on a computer connected to the net.
