Hi all, I have JUST started using flash and was doing a little research while prepping my background and such and came across this article about creating a gradient opacity mesh in Flash, Something I do really often in Illustrator, http://www.tutorialhero.com/click-28248-creating_opacity_gradient_mask_in_flash_8.php
My question is, I use CS4, Does it already include a way to do this? Or is this the easiest way?
Any info would be great,
Basically, the only easy way I have ever seen to make a semi-transparent mask or a soft edged mask as it is sometimes called is to use a bit of script for it. I have seen tutorials that do or fake the effect using transparent png images but the use of a little code always seemed easier. The code in that tutorial is for Actionscript 2.0 the code in AS3.0 to add and object as a mask is a little different:
imageSymbol.mask = maskSymbol;
And the code for making the movieClips interactive is a bit different as well, you would have to add eventLIsteners to the movieClip instances and then add functions that they trigger.
Cheers, I'll have to look into it, I'm using it for animation and not interaction which I hope will make it easier lol
