I am building a textField object that will contain new line character.
"\n" does not appear to work. All that it has been doing is trunctate
the text string to the first occurance of the "\n".
Does Action Script use Unix new lines; (line feed)?
using, regardless of the platform. It needs to occur within double quotes;
"\n" rather than '\n', other wise it is rendered literally.
How do I enter new lines into Action Script text strings?

\n should work. Do you have your textfield set up to be multiline?
Hmmm... yes (textField is set to multiline).
The only other possible problem is that
the file that creates and initializes the
textField is in a separate .as file that
is '#inlude'ed in the SWF file when it
is published. I am using Flash CS4 on

I found out why this was not working as expected:
In the line this.createTexField() I had the height parameter set to 30
Then I had <textObject>.height = 400. The code used the argument
in createTextField() and ignored <textObject>.height = 400. But come
to think about it it should be <textObject>._height = 400;
