    Dreamweaver messes up formatting?

    Trona_User
I'm using Dreamweaver CS3 Version 9 Build 3453. When I go to edit the main index.html file, the formatting goes all screwy when I open to edit it. I am new to Dreamweaver, but have the jist of the program figured out for the basic features I need to use. The website page itself looks fine when viewed from a browser. My Site. www.pyrobor.net When I open it in dreamweaver it does this->
      Messed up screen.

I'm not sure what is going on. This is a new website, and new install of Dreamweaver so most of the preference settings are "virgin" and unchanged. When I go to edit the site in Seamonkey Composer, the page looks like the one accessed through the browser, it's all good.

Dreamweaver had the same problem with various other templates I liked and wanted to use, but when I went to edit, the formatting on the screen was all messed up, while SM Composer edited it just fine.

I'm sure there is a setting somewhere that may not be set right, but I don't know where to start as I'm new to Dreamweaver.

Anyone have any thoughts? Do Dreamweaver need to be upgraded or updated?

It is not a Dreamweaver issue. Check your validation for starters. You
have 119 errors. You are using the doctype xhtml strict with an incorrect
attribute. Personally I'd back off the strict doctype and go for
          transitional. Its more forgiving.

Thanks for the info Michael. I'm not sure the difference between html and xhtml or even strict verses transitional. (I'm new to building a site form the ground up.) I'll look into it and see if I can find what to change and how to change it. Any extra direction would be helpful. Thanks.
