There is too much latency to use Soundbooth for recording a narration or an electronic musical instrument while monitoring audio via a headset. I used a microphone and a keyboard attached to an Alesis iO|26 FireWire interface as well as a mic plugged directly into my sound card. In both cases there is a significant delay.
The Help file notes that "To reduce latency, use sound cards with ASIO or Core Audio drivers." I have a Creative Labs Audigy 2 THX card, which supports ASIO.
I have used the Shure X2u XLR-to-USB Microphone Adapter, which has zero latency monitoring, but it does not have zero latency when listening to audio coming from the PC. So you can't narrate while listening to a video or other audio. I have read another thread about using the Samson G-Track, which, from what I can see, works much like the Shure adapter.
So...is there a way to use Soundbooth to record a narration or an electronic instrument, such that you can do real-time monitoring and that doesn't require buying a new microphone or interface?
Thanks,
Jeff
