    Reading Xml of the Php file ....

    aktell2007 Level 1

      I'm writing to and reading from my Php/MySQL like this:

      <mx:HTTPService url="http://localhost/getMsgInfo.php"
                  id="msgRequest"
                      method="POST"
                      resultFormat="e4x">

                  <mx:request>

                     <title>{title.text}</title>
                      <firstName>{firstName.text}</firstName>
                      <lastName>{lastName.text}</lastName>
                      <email>{email.text}</email>

                     <userName>{userName.text}</userName>
                 </mx:request>
              </mx:HTTPService>

              <mx:DataGrid dataProvider="{msgRequest.lastResult.message}">

              <mx:columns>
                  <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="First Name"  dataField="firstName"/>

                etc.

              </mx:columns>
              </mx:DataGrid>

                The Php file is like this:

                  if (isset($_POST['firstName'])) {
                  $title = $_POST['title'];
                  $firstName = $_POST['firstName'];

                     etc.

      Now I wanted to READ the Xml only so I nade a new Php script, and I removed the MySQL INSERT Query etc. the Php file works fine and it shows the CREATED Xml ! corresponding with the DB! in the browser.

      Running it as above in the new FLEX it comes up with an Alert Error that it can't connect, but if I change the - resultFormat="e4x" - to xml or text I do get NO Alert Error at all! but it still does not read either!

      Question is now: What do I change the - resultFormat="e4x" - to, and do I have to use GET rather than POST, and would I have to change the 'isset' in the Php file because I try only to read ???

      Thanks in advance aktell
