I've been asked to create a kiosk style presentation for a
client that will allow them to edit the text in certain areas.
Ideally they'd be able to edit a word .doc or .txt file that the
Projector is linked too and will pickup any changes to the file.
Anyone know if this is this possible and how to do it?
For txt files use Director's native FileIO Xtra to read/write
to the file.
For .doc you would need to be able to write the format... or
easier yet, export the .rtf info from a Director text member using
a rtf to doc command line converter... you could use the open()
command built into Director to accomplish this or use Valentin's
excellent Shell Xtra (free)... or you could use Valentin's doc
class to write to .doc format (haven't used it, ever so no
experience with it). It might be easier to convert from .txt or
.rtf to PDF format as it's more widely supported and doesn't allow
for further editing unless someone has Adobe Acrobat.
