I am working my way through Aftereffects classroom in a book (very new to this software so apologies if a very stupid question!) Lesson 3 I am importing a .ai file - a dragonfly. The compostion is 10 seconds long, as are all the other assets bar the dragonfly which is only 3 seconds long, thus will not run the length of the composition. Has there been an error in setting this up (all assets are provided on the tutorial disc) or have I made a mistake in importing it? I have tried altering the duration time of the dragonfly in aftereffects but this doesn't work.
Any help gratefully appreciated
I have just been playing around. The tutorial tells me to import as Composition-Cropped Layers. I mistakenly directly added the file from Adobe Bridge, which it has imported as soley a .ai file. This has cured the problem and I have managed to complete the lesson, but I don't know why or what I have done - any explanations?
Your preferences are probably set to import images at ten seconds. You can change this or you can simply grab the end of the layer and drag it out.
Thanks for replying. I tried grabbing the end of the clip to eek it out - it stretched but the dragonfly would not appear after 3 seconds. Import preferences is set to import length of clip. Any other suggestions?
