1. Re: "missing or invalid personalization information missing resource library" On CS2
P Spier Jan 1, 2010 4:11 PM (in response to user7777)I'm not sure CS2 will run on Win 7. It certainly isn't a supported application/OS combination. Is this a 32 bit or 64 bit version of Windows?

3. Re: "missing or invalid personalization information missing resource library" On CS2
user7777 Jan 1, 2010 5:09 PM (in response to P Spier)I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I hope CS2 does work for that OS. What I mean by maxed out is that Adobe permits up to two computer to use CS2 with the same serial code. Afterwards you have to buy another serial code from them or deactivate one to transfer. Thanks for your reply.

4. Re: "missing or invalid personalization information missing resource library" On CS2
P Spier Jan 1, 2010 5:32 PM (in response to user7777)One thing that is very important on 64 bit windows is to install 32 bit applications in the correct location, the Programs (x86) folder, and there are some possibilities that the older installers don't know how to do this by default.
I beleive that I saw in another post that Bob is running CS2 very nicely on a windows XP virtual machine installed on his 64 bit Win7 box. You should consider doing the same.

5. Re: "missing or invalid personalization information missing resource library" On CS2
user7777 Jan 2, 2010 11:42 AM (in response to P Spier)I didn't know what the difference between Programs Files (x86) folder and the other. But luckily it defaulted to the x86. Thanks for mention that, I would have never known.
I stick in my cd to install and I still have trouble getting it reinstalled with that same error. What I find odd is why was CS2 so difficult to uninstall. I think bits and pieces are still interferring.

P Spier Jan 2, 2010 11:48 AM (in response to user7777)You'll find some links here about manually removing CS2: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/search/index.cfm?loc=en_us&term=manual%20removal%20InDesign%2 0CS2&cat=support

7. Re: "missing or invalid personalization information missing resource library" On CS2
user7777 Jan 4, 2010 4:39 PM (in response to P Spier)Thanks for the link, I tried following the directions to further removing the components but had no luck. So I went a head and reformated the computer so I can reinstall a clean CS2.
Good new is it's not nagging about a inproper serial now. Bad new is whenever I try to install the CS2 in the C:\Program Files (x86)\adobe It says "The path you selected for installation contains unsupported characters. Please choose a different folder for installation, so I try C:\Program Files (x86)\adobe2. I still get that prompt blocking me.
I did some homework on compatability issues like mention. Some people mention to reclick and and select compatability tab and service pack 3 as admin. I gave that a go. All that did was reboot the computer. A few people claim that got CS2 working for windows 7 already here, other's couldn't:
Any ideas what to do next?

8. Re: "missing or invalid personalization information missing resource library" On CS2
P Spier Jan 4, 2010 5:25 PM (in response to user7777)There's a KB article about that. Try Progra~2 for the folder name.

user7777 Jan 5, 2010 10:00 AM (in response to P Spier)
So I should try "C:\ Progra~2 (x86)\adobe" ? You wouldn't happen to have a link to that KB article? Thanks Peter. -
10. Re: "missing or invalid personalization information missing resource library" On CS2
P Spier Jan 5, 2010 10:16 AM (in response to user7777)You can find it as fast as I can....
The problem is the parentheses in the folder name. Progra~2 is the "MS_DOS name" for that folder (the regular Program files folder is Progra~1). Just use it instead of Program Files (x86) in th4e path statement, as in C:\Progra~2\...

BobLevine Jan 5, 2010 1:15 PM (in response to P Spier)Bookmarked it long ago: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/325/325739.html
Note to the OP...you are in dangerously unsupported territory. I would advise you to upgrade to CS4.
You must buy the correct upgrade: The CS4 Design Premium from CS/CS2 can be found on Amazon http://bit.ly/6TRpBc . You can buy it anywhere that's authorized but make sure you buy the correct upgrade.

user7777 Jan 7, 2010 5:48 PM (in response to P Spier)Thank you Peter that path suggestion, as well as Bob's reference link worked!
Bob, I'll keep that CS4 upgrade in mind when I have the budget. There are a lot of adobe users and communities who are having the same issues running CS2 hopefully people will see this thread and it will be helpful for them as well.

13. Re: "missing or invalid personalization information missing resource library" On CS2
simpleculture Aug 25, 2010 4:34 PM (in response to user7777)I am having this same issue. Installed CS2 on a Windows 7 machine, in the (x86) directory. It said that I had maxed out the number of times I had moved my copy and that I couldn't register via the internet. So I called the phone number instead. We thru that and all seemed ok. But when I tried to open any programs, I was surprised to get an error, "missing or invalid personalization information / missing resource library".
I am unable to manually uninstall using Adobe directions because it requires you to use the uninstaller. When I try to add/remove the program in the control panel, I get the same error message. And when I try to delete any of the Adobe program folders, I also get the same error. How on earth can I remove this without wiping my hard drive?
I am considering upgrading but want to remove this version first.

P Spier Aug 25, 2010 4:42 PM (in response to simpleculture)Not precisely the same error message, but see http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/331/331649.html

15. Re: "missing or invalid personalization information missing resource library" On CS2
BobLevine Aug 25, 2010 5:16 PM (in response to simpleculture)You may find something in here:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/325/325739.html
But it's important to note that CS2 was never designed to run on Win 7 and the fact that it's the 64 bit version just compounds the problem. Time to upgrade while you still can.

16. Re: "missing or invalid personalization information missing resource library" On CS2
simpleculture Aug 25, 2010 7:34 PM (in response to BobLevine)Thanks very much!
I don't know why, but I did a system restore, restoring everything to before the Adobe installation. Then I was able to delete the Adobe program folder. Previously, I got an error message.
Then I reinstalled CS2 into the Program Files (x86) folder by pointing the install to C:/progra~2/adobe
Yes, I plan to take advantage of the upgrade before CS2 becomes uneligible.

P Spier Dec 18, 2010 4:17 AM (in response to spme)Do you have a full version of Acrobat installed? If so, what version? There was an update to Acrobat 8 that caused some problems similar to this that was resolved I believe by either another patch for the licensing system or a further update to Acrobat itself. Did you check the knowledgebase for the error message?
