1. Re: Dreamweaver CS4 File Manager > Sorting on Mac
David_Powers Jan 4, 2010 3:57 PM (in response to LoriKB)Expand the Files panel wide enough to see the Type column. Click the column header. Folders will be listed first, Windows style.

2. Re: Dreamweaver CS4 File Manager > Sorting on Mac
LoriKB Jan 5, 2010 2:49 AM (in response to David_Powers)Thanks for your reply. While this does group the folders it does not guarantee they are placed at the top. Also, in order to get the folders closer to the top I have to sort things in reverse alphabetical order which is counter-productive.
I have included a screenshot.

David_Powers Jan 5, 2010 2:59 AM (in response to LoriKB)Click it again.Clicking any of the titles at the top of those columns toggles the sorting order.

4. Re: Dreamweaver CS4 File Manager > Sorting on Mac
LoriKB Jan 5, 2010 3:02 AM (in response to David_Powers)Thanks, I realize this, but this places the folders on the bottom.
I am guessing there is not a way to achieve a true windows type sorting on the mac version.
Thanks for your time,
Lori

5. Re: Dreamweaver CS4 File Manager > Sorting on Mac
David_Powers Jan 5, 2010 3:59 AM (in response to LoriKB)Looking more closely at your screenshot, you have a whole bunch of C# files in your site root. I'm not an ASP.NET expert, but the problem would be fixed if you moved those into a folder. On my Mac, all the folders are at the top. HTML and PHP files are at the bottom, because F comes before H and P.
This particular sorting style isn't specific to Dreamweaver. It's a Mac thing. I use a Mac only occasionally, and found it just as confusing as you do. When I mentioned it to a Mac user, the response was it makes more sense for everything to be in alphabetical order. It's what you get used to, I suppose.
Anyway, I'll mark this question as assumed answered.
