i don't see that (while using ie8). i do see a warning: "This website wants to run the following add-on: 'Windows Media Player' from 'Microsoft Corporation'. If you trust the website and the add-on and want to allow it to run, click here..."
Are you able to interact with the slideshow without seeing any border once you active the control?
I thought MS did away with the ActiveX Control in IE8...why are you still seeing that warning?

i was able to navigate using the menu but i didn't navigate to a slideshow. and, i didn't see any warning about activeX. the warning i saw and posted, i don't recall seeing before.
i'm now at my office where i have ie7 and i see no problems, at all using it.
Thank you, kglad. This helps me a lot. It must just be in our corporate environment that I'm seeing the error. Why would this happen? Any explanations or thoughts?
incorrect embedding code can cause browser specific problems. and, checking your html code, you do have incomplete embedding code.
to verify that's the problem, use the html file published by flash and check if you see any of those problems while using ie8.
