Hi - can anyone help?
I have searched and found the answer to my question but had no success with the answer. I am writing a splash screen for a movie to go out on disc. I want to allow people to have the option to play the movie from disc or to copy the file and resource folder to their hard drive. I have downloaded BuddyAPI and found the appropriate lingo but I am not able to get it working.
My lingo experience is limited and I am probably being dumb but I would really appreciate some help with this.
I want people to copy the necessary file & folder by clicking a "Copy" button or play the movie via a "Play from disc" button. So the lingo I have used to test is this:
on mouseUp me
OK = baCopyFile( "Macintosh HD:Users:alastairduncan:Documents:testfile.pdf" , "Macintosh HD:Users:alastairduncan:Desktop:testfile.pdf" , "IfNotExist" )
What is wrong with this?
The first thing that's wrong is that you have hardcoded paths. I would have expected to see the source file/s based off _movie.path and the destination directory to be user determined (by presenting a folder-select dialog). Presumably you have the "Play from disc" button figured out?
Hi. Thanks very much for the reply,
This was just a test to see if I could figure out what I needed to do so, yes, it is hard coded for the moment. The intention for the final splash screen will be to give the user the option to either play the movie direct from the disc or copy the necessary movie file and resource folder to a destination of their choice. I am currently restricted to using 2 elements from BuddyAPI as that is the free version (this is not a commercial product but will be used in education).
Can you show me what the lingo should be - how would it be written as an off _movie.path
