I have a HDV 720 30p project shot on a JVC GY-HD200UB. This isn't a compatible Blu-ray format. Has anyone come up with a good work around to get this type of footage on Blu-ray? I've read that converting the footage to 60i should be okay. I've also thought about converting to 24p, but I want to keep the look as close to the original as possible. Thoughts?
If you're using Encore you can create a 720 project, import your videos and let Encore do the transcoding for you.
What frame rate would you recommend I choose, as 720 30p is not an option for Blu-ray? Thanks, JB
For a 1280 x 720 frame size you will need to choose between 23p or 60p in Encore. So you may need to convert to 23fps.
You will also need to choose a codec:
MPEG-2 is actually the same codec that is used on DVDs. It has fairly good compression and is compatible with all Blu-Ray players.
H.264 is a newer codec with greater compression and better quality at lower bitrates. It is compatible with all but the oldest Blu-Ray players.
