    Illustrator CS4 on a 64-bit XP OS

    Andrew.Nelson Level 1

I tried loading Illustrator on my machine at work, but when I did, the computer essentially came to a stop.  I had to wipe my hard drive and reinstall everything.  Is there a way that I can make the SW work on this machine?

      Thanks,

      Andrew

I believe you have to run it a a 32 bit application or it is no dice how you do that I do not know but I believe there is a way to install and run as a 32 bit only application. but it cannot be run asa 64 bit since it is not.

I am wrong about this it is not certified for XP 64 but it seems others do use it

What exactly did you do? What machine is it? While XP64 is not officially supported, CS4 should run just fine on it. It does on my machine here at work...

The Machine is a Dell Precision M6400

              Win XP

              Professional x64 Edition

              Vers. 2003

              Serv Pack 2

              The computer is a:

              Intel Core 2 Extreme

              CPU Q9300 @ 2.53 GHz

2.53 GHz, 7.98 GB of RAM

When I first received the computer, I installed SolidWorks 2009, Photoshop.  Everything worked fine.  I then installed Illustrator, and the machine crashed.  I had to have the IT Dep. re-image the system.  I searched and could not find a 64bit version of Illustrator, so I did not install it.  Than BAD part is that we paid for the license, and cannot use it.

I think it should work since you installed a new system.
