Why do you need to do this? Use the Knife tool to cut the rectangle. You may have to ungroup it first.
Hi Jim, as you know I've been looking for a way of importing rounded rectangles with transparent corners from FW to DW. This was a suggestion from a different forum - create the rectangle, dissect it into 3, and export it, again with the middle slice repeating. Obviously I now have the solution, but I couldn't work out how to split the shape and wanted to know how to do it for future reference. Thanks again for the advice.
Ungroup the shape (Modify > Ungroup)
Use the Knife tool (not the Slice tool) to cut the shape into three pieces.
That said, you should not have to physically cut the rectangle into three pieces; properly slicing the rectangle into three slices should do the job just fine.
Jim, many thanks...I take the point about the slicing, but I didn't know I needed to ungroup the shape, and haven't used the knife tool before so this is very useful information.
Super! Glad the info was helpful.
