import images from a scanner using WIA Support (Windows only)

I use an Epson 4490 Photo scanner together with Photoshop CS 4 on a 64 bit Vista computer.  I have always been able to open scanned images in Photoshop once the scan was completed.

Recently I updated the Epson driver and when I scan in 'Professional Mode' the image no longer opens in Photoshop.  Instead I get a 'File Saving Setting' pop-up which requires me to select a folder and assign a name to the file.  I don't particularly like this system because I have a numbering system for my negatives that does not lend itself to the way I am forced to name the file. I would just like to continue have the scan open in Photoshop and then go from there.

Any of the 'Help' questions I have seen suggest to go to: File>Import>WIA support in Photoshop.  However, when I do that and click on 'Epson 4490'  I get an error message indicating that the scanner can't be found - although I have minutes before scanned an image.

I sure would appreciate any info/help anybody has concerning this.
