1. Re: add missing plugin Indesign file to book
Harbs. Jan 18, 2010 2:24 AM (in response to UDevp)The only way to clear that error, is to install the plugins, or export
the document to inx/idml.

ramkumar.vp Jan 18, 2010 2:26 AM (in response to UDevp)I think this is version problem.
Are you adding a higher version InDesign to lower version. [Eg. Adding a CS3 document to CS2 book].
If its true then, Open the document in oringal version[CS3] and export as INX and open the exported INX in lower version [CS2]. Then save as new indd and add it to the Book.

vincent 1982 Dec 12, 2012 6:48 AM (in response to ramkumar.vp)Hello, is Harbs's answer still valid today? Or is there another solution to this? I have documents that give me the missing plugin error and because of this, the documents can't be packaged.

Larry G. Schneider Dec 12, 2012 1:15 PM (in response to vincent 1982)You might check and make sure that the documents are in the same version that you are trying to package them from (or an earlier version).

6. Re: add missing plugin Indesign file to book
Larry G. Schneider Aug 20, 2013 3:17 PM (in response to Sudha K)You can try Exporting the opened file from CS6 as an IDML file, reopen the IDML in CS6 and save as a new file name. When you open it should have stripped out any unused plugin references.

Sudha K Aug 20, 2013 8:38 PM (in response to Larry G. Schneider)Hi,
I have to alert the user when the document throws the missing plug-in alert, using script (Javascript (or) Applescript).

8. Re: add missing plugin Indesign file to book
AaronPDX Oct 11, 2013 11:06 AM (in response to Harbs.)Unfortunately this is not flawless. Exported documents, when reopened, can have elements out of place or hidden -- I'm not sure if this is due to a styles synchronization issue or what, but it's unfortunate that the IDML process can't be fully trusted.
