dec9 Jan 18, 2010 8:30 AM (in response to Chrsitian)If you have PS CS4 running exit from the program before install.
Go into windows task manager and verify there are no adobe products running in the background (except the updater of course).
If all else fails you can do the manual download. Once downloaded, right click on the icon and run as Admin. Ensure there are no adobe software products running in the background

dec9 Jan 19, 2010 5:07 PM (in response to Chrsitian)If you think something is running in the background during update check:
Right click on the Vista bottom tool bar to bring up task manager. Look to see nothing adobe is running in applications. Go to the processes tab and click on processes from all users and look for any adobe application running (Adobe reader). If found click on it and end process.
Go to Start, start search and type in MSconfig. Click on startup tab and look for any adobe product that is checked and un-check it. Anything changed will need a reboot of the PC.
Ok, as far as the popup issue go to internet options, privacy and uncheck popup blocker, hit apply and ok to close out. Then restart internet explorer
If you are on a router and it has a built in firewall (most do) you want to turn off windows firewall. Go to Start, start search and type in windows firewall. Look at the top left and click on Turn windows Firewall on or off. A window will pop up. Select Off, hit apply then ok. Close out the other window.
Now try the updater again.
