Dreamweaver and Plesk - remote server time

    Denise@i-CW
I have a new VPS and I chose to use Plesk., but I have found a little annoying problem. Plesk does not allow dreamweaver to write to the root folder so when dreamweaver tries to place it's time and date folder on there and Plesk doesn't let it, I get the error: Dreamweaver cannot determine the remote server time. The select newer and syncronize comands will not be available.

My host asked if I could set dreamweaver to create the (time date) file in /tmp.

      Anybody?

      Thanks,
      Denise

Is this ftp root folder the folder the public site files need to go in- or
is it the upper level Private folder?

If it's the private upper folder- use the "host directory" line of the
remote server info to set the site definition to the correct remote folder
the site files need to go in; such as /public_html or www or httpdocs or
          whatever your setup uses.

The local and remote sides should be defined so that the site's "homepage"
index file is in the root level of the Files Panel, and the local and remote
          are mirror images.

then dw is defined to a writable location and can determine the server time.
And it's properly defined so dw has the correct site root (not the upper
level private ftp root) so dw can make site root relative http paths.

If you need to do any work in the upper level private folder- use a
different Site Definition in dw, or easier/safer- use a different ftp
          client.
