Need help with Auto-update feature on Adobe Reader and Acrobat

    AbrielLao Level 1

I saw this article regarding about disabling the auto-update feature for Adobe Reader and Acrobat versions 7 and 8 through the registry.

      http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402050.html

The regedit worked... the auto-update on update tool preferences interface disappears on the Adobe programs.

In our case... different versions of Adobe Reader (9.1.2, 9.2 and 9.3... I just replaced 8.0 to 9.0) and Acrobat 8.

I just have a question... what does the key really do? Does it just hide the auto-update setting or does it disable it completely?

My guess is it does both but I want be sure and hear from others what happened to them when they tried this regedit.

And also, if in case I want to set it back to what it was before.

Does deleting the reg keys that was added by the reg hack will restore the auto-update feature back?

In advance, thanks for all your input on this.
