    Get the TextColumn No of InsertionPoint

      Hi All,

       

      using InDesign CS4 5.0.4 / VB...Windows.

       

      How to getting the TextColumn Number through InsertionPoint.  Support the textFrame having the 2 column,  i need to insert the insertionPoint either first or second column.  How to get the InsertionPoint is in the first Column? or Second Column?

       

      Anyone give me the suggestion !

          You have two ways to get TextColumn number/index:

          1) select text from first Character to current Character/InsertionPoint of parent TextFrame and read .TextColumns.Count of selection,

           

          or

           

          2) check the .InsertionPoint.HorizontalOffset of first InsertionPoint of parent TextColumn of your current selection - mySel.TextColumns.Item(1).InsertionPoints.Item(1).HorizontalOffset - and compare it with value of all TextColumns in parent TextFrame.

          And by the way - CS4 isn't 5.0.4 - it's CS3.

            I have choosen the method HorizontalOffset calculation.....
