I don't know about cache files for individual projects, but I use CS3 and my media cache folder is located in windows here:
C:\Documents and Settings\rod\Application Data\Adobe\Premiere Pro\3.0\MediaIO\Cache\AMECache4542140.vpc
I know of that option and once helped someone on this forum about where Encore stores those very large files.
The question I have is for Premiere. It used to store PEK CFA under Media Cache Files folder. Not it stores it right with the source file, which I don't think it's a good idea.
So what's wrong with the global folder? Set it to what you want. Then uncheck "Store Media Cache files next to original..."
The problem is that Premiere is not that stable. When bad thing happens, one of the first things I will try is to clear the cache. When the cache is per-project, it makes sense to do that as the problem is typically within a project. A global cache folder is hard for people with many project going on at the same time. You have to rebuild the cache for all projects after clearing.
The problem is that Premiere is not that stable.
This is probably a result of other problems. I would address those first.
Let's take a step back.
Let's say I have 10 projects going on. I finished one. How do I clear the cache for clips used in that project?
Organize your media by project. Store the cache files next to the
originals. Delete the cache files when you're done with the project.
If you use the same media in multiple projects, then you don't want to
delete the cache files when one of the projects is finished.
If Pr stored the cache files by project, and you used the same media in
multiple projects, then you'd end up with unnecessary multiple copies of
the cache files.
"Organize your media by project. Store the cache files next to the originals. Delete the cache files when you're done with the project."
I thought that was cleanly done in previous versions (Media Cache Files folder). The pek/cfa will appear right along the source file. Is the old option gone? It's available if the project is a CS3 project and converted to CS4. Any tweak to allow the old behavior?
